Mark McVeigh joined the GIANTS' coaching staff ahead of the 2015 season after 12 months as Head Coach of the GIANTS Academy, identifying and developing local talent within the GIANTS' region.

He took charge of the backline for his first six seasons and will become the midfield coach in 2021.

Since retiring from the AFL in 2012 after 232 games with Essendon, McVeigh had been part of the Seven Network and SEN radio commentary teams and previously worked with AFL NSW/ACT as Talent and Coaching Manager.

McVeigh grew up on the Central Coast of NSW and played for Pennant Hills before he was drafted at pick nine to Essendon at the end of 1998 and was a member of their 2001 Grand Final side.

The former Bomber has also been involved in coaching the Under-16 and Under-18 NSW/ACT Rams to National Championship titles.
