The GIANTS signed Victorian netballer Elle Bennetts as a rookie under the provisions for players from other sports. Elle played for the Victorian Fury in the Australian Netball League from 2012 to 2017 and is a four-time premiership player. Bennetts immediately impressed in her first season of AFLW, with her elite running and footskills on show in an attacking role on the wing. So impressive was her season that Bennetts won the GIANTS’ Rising Star award. Bennetts also played her first Super Netball game for the NSW Swifts during the 2019 season. Having retired from netball, Bennetts has gone from strength to strength to become an accomplished AFLW defender.
