PLAYER BIO

The tiny town of Collingullie produced another GIANT with midfielder Harry Perryman joining the GIANTS with pick 14 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft. A quality player who moves like a natural footballer, Perryman isn't quick but twists and turns his way out of trouble and rarely gets caught. He has a background playing as a half-back, but has also spent time in the midfield where his strengths have come to the fore. He’s equally as clever and classy on both feet, and knows where the goals are. Perryman plays in an unflustered and uncomplicated manner but always seems to make the right decision when in possession.

The second-year backman never got going last season thanks to a couple of separate injury concerns, but he continued to show he has the temperament to become a regular senior player. Perryman’s kicking is one of his greatest strengths and he has the hardness required to make him a quality small defender. The former GIANTS Academy product needs a big summer to get his body right and, if he works his way into some form during the pre-season games, he’s a lock to be part of the best 22.

One of the GIANTS’ three top-15 draft picks in 2016, Perryman forged a solid debut season, playing eight games as a defender. Is hard at the ball and looks a promising prospect as a small defender, who could eventually move into the midfield. The country boy quickly became a popular member of the playing group with his laidback demeanour, but was an intense competitor on the field, which made him a favourite of the coaching staff and teammates. Perryman’s fingernail touch against Richmond in round nine helped the GIANTS to a thrilling last-minute win and made his debut for the club even more memorable. Signed a contract extension last year, tying him to the club until the end of 2020.

Joins fellow Collingullie product and former teammate Matt Kennedy at the GIANTS after starring as a junior as part of the GIANTS Academy. Perryman is an old-school footballer who doesn't set the world on fire with his athleticism, but makes up for it with his ability to find the ball and use it well by hand or foot. Another versatile youngster who can be used all over the ground because of his outstanding decision-making.
