Player Bio

Daniel Lloyd is a 186cm, 88kg powerful mid-sized forward recruited from the NSW Central Coast. A former scholarship holder with the Western Bulldogs, Lloyd was spotted by Assistant Coach Mark McVeigh playing for the Killarney Vale Bombers in the Black Diamond Football League where he kicked nine goals in a semi-final for the Bombers this season and also won Killarney Vale’s 2015 Best and Fairest award. After an impressive 2016 NEAFL season with the GIANTS Reserves which saw him named as an AFL emergency, Lloyd made his AFL debut in round eight, 2017.

The well-built forward played some quality footy before he suffered a serious knee injury in round 12, and while he returned
to play the last two games of the home and away season, Lloyd was dropped for the finals when a host of stars returned from injury. Upgraded to the senior list over summer, Lloyd’s opportunities at senior level will again depend on the availability of more-established GIANTS, but he’s more than capable of performing if given an extended run in the AFL.

After being recruited from a the Black Diamond League in NSW back in 2015, Lloyd was rewarded with an upgrade to the senior list early last year and made his debut in round eight against Collingwood. Lloyd went on to play seven games and after signing a new two-year contract last year should get more chances this season.

Plucked from the New South Wales Central Coast at the 2016 Rookie Draft, Lloyd didn't play a senior game in his first year but showed promising signs. Gathered plenty of the ball as a midfielder and kicked regular bags of goals in the NEAFL, but will need a lot to go his way to break on to the senior list and into the side.

The 24-year-old forward won the best and fairest at Killarney Vale on the New South Wales Central Coast and was plucked by GIANTS Assistant coach Mark McVeigh. A former Western Bulldogs scholarship holder, the classy goalkicker booted nine goals in a final last year.
