Seven players face fitness tests at Wednesday’s main training as the GIANTS could be bolstered for a showdown with Richmond this weekend.

Phil Davis and Jacob Hopper - who were both concussed in round 20 - have progressed through their 12-day protocols as planned with the final step to be completing training on Wednesday with no adverse effects.

Daniel Lloyd and Sam Reid (ankle injuries) missed last week’s win over Geelong and will put their hands up for selection as the week progresses.

Adam Kennedy is on the way back from a hamstring injury while Stephen Coniglio (toe) will aim to ramp up his training in a bid to return to the field this weekend.

Bobby Hill will also push for a return after spending 14 days in quarantine before joining the team in Melbourne last Thursday.

“Wednesday will be a big training session this week,” said GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball.

“Both Jacob and Phil have progressed really well which is great news and we’ll be guided by our doctor as to their availability for this week but it’s looking positive so far.

“Daniel and Sam are moving well following their ankle injuries and it’s a wait and see for Stephen and Bobby depending on how much training they can get through on Wednesday.

“Adam’s recovering well from his hamstring injury and will be put through his paces to determine if he returns this week.”

Brent Daniels and Callum Brown have been ruled out of this week’s clash with the Tigers following injuries in Friday night’s win over Geelong.

Daniels came from the ground in the third quarter with scans revealing an upper hamstring strain.

“It’s really disappointing for Brent and you could probably see that in his reaction on Friday night,” Ball said.

“We think he’ll miss at least a month as there is minor tendon involvement but we’ll be better placed to put a timeline on it over the coming weeks.

“The good news is it is on the opposite side to the previous hamstring he’s had issues with.”

Irishman Brown - who kicked two goals in his first full game - picked up a grade one hamstring injury late in the match against Geelong and is expected to miss two weeks.

The GIANTS take on Richmond in round 22 with a date and location to be determined.
