Zach Sproule and Jeremy Finlayson are in the frame for an AFL return after impressing in the GIANTS' 27-point win over the Brisbane Lions in the VFL on Sunday afternoon.

After being omitted from the senior side last week, Finlayson registered 21 disposals, three goals and ten marks playing across the ground as the GIANTS defeated Brisbane 11.20 (86) to 8.11 (59).

Zach Sproule, who has played six games at AFL level this year, also impressed with two goals, 10 marks and 26 disposals playing as a forward and assisting in the ruck.

Nick Shipley (19 disposals) and James Peatling (17 disposals, one goal) also put in impressive performances as they look to work their way into the GIANTS' AFL senior squad.

The GIANTS had eight listed players as well as the five Academy players currently travelling and training with the team in Queensland playing in this game.

With the VFL fixture a week-by-week proposition, the GIANTS worked with the Sydney Swans to allow their listed players to act as top-ups for the GIANTS.

Sydney's Logan McDonald, Dylan Stephens, Braeden Campbell, Ryan Clarke Sam Gray, Lewis Melican, Kaiden Brand, Will Gould and first-year player Marc Sheather were included in the GIANTS' squad.

GIANTS VFL coach Luke Kelly credited the win to his side’s resilience and professionalism.

"Obviously we played under very different circumstances on the weekend but what I loved most was the professionalism from both the players and staff from the Swans and the GIANTS," Kelly said.

"The willingness from both teams to work together and produce a positive outcome was great."

Callum Brown

15 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles

"Back to his consistent best defensively. He was strong one-on-one and really consistent in his positioning. He's starting to find a more consistent offensive level which is great."

Matt Buntine

15 disposals, 6 marks

"Played in a different role on the wing and showed some great freedom with ball in hand. He finished with 100% efficiency with the ball in hand, really good game from Matt."

Jeremy Finlayson

21 disposals, 10 marks, 3 goals

"Responded really well to getting omitted last week. He kicked 3.4, but what was most pleasing was his four goal assists. His defensive intent and his work rate was really consistent."

Cameron Fleeton

8 disposals, 1 mark

"Solid return after missing a couple of weeks now. He has built a base level of consistency in his starting positions and will only continue to get better."

Sam Frost*

14 disposals, 3 marks

"A very disciplined defensive performance from Sam. He was able to showcase more of his strengths offensively and is starting to get more ball in hand."

Josh Green*

19 disposals, 1 goal

"Shifted back inside after a few weeks down back, he lead the way with contested ball which is a real strength in his game. He showed his versatility with some good moments up forward."

Harry Grintell*

7 disposals, 2 tackles

"Probably didn't have the day offensively that he would have liked, but his intent to play four quarters of defensive football was a really positive step in his development."

Fraser Kelly*

10 disposals, 1 goal

"What's pleasing about Fraser is the consistency in his work rate across the ground. He'll go to work on his finishing but he's building a level of consistency that'll have a big impact for us moving forward."

Max Monaghan*

14 disposals, 4 marks

"Spent more time inside this week. Again showed his cleanliness and hardness around the contest and we were really pleased with his work rate contest to contest."

James Peatling

17 disposals, 1 goal

"Put in another strong performance again off the back of his defensive craft. Everyone will see his offensive involvement but he's becoming a really hard defender to play on."

Nick Shipley

19 disposals, 12 handballs

"Another one that's found a real base level of consistency in his game. He really clever with the ball in hand and it was another strong performance from Nick."

Zach Sproule

2 goals, 26 disposals, 10 marks

"He's at a level now where we know what we're going to get from him. He has six shots on goal and we were really pleased with his work as our second ruck."

Jacob Wehr

16 disposals, 3 tackles

"Another one who is providing a really consistent level of football, especially defensively. Week on week he's beginning to have more impact with ball in hand and is producing some really positive offence out of the back half."
