Key forward Jesse Hogan is available for selection as the GIANTS get set to take on Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday.

GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:

“Jesse has cleared all his tests and will have another full week of training this week and be available for selection.

“He’s done his rehab really well and has a big block of training under his belt as he gets set to return to the field.”

Captain Stephen Coniglio and Sam Taylor are both facing fitness tests this week as they recover from respective syndesmosis injuries.

“It’s great to see Stephen out the other side after an extensive rehab with his ankle and toe,” Ball said.

“He’s been as diligent and as professional as ever and if he’s cleared it will be up to the coaches as to what level he plays this weekend.

“Sam Taylor is in the same boat after a shorter rehab and has come along nicely the past few weeks.”

Young midfielder Nick Shipley will miss this week after suffering a concussion in the VFL on Sunday evening. He’ll go through the standard 12-day protocols and will be assessed next week as to whether he’s fit to return to the field.

Draftee Conor Stone injured his hamstring again on Sunday in the VFL with a timeline on his return to be decided in the coming weeks.

“It’s unfortunate for Conor who had a similar issue in the same hamstring, but to a different muscle, not that long ago,” Ball said.

“We’ll let it settle and then work through building him back up again to full fitness. Being a young player and having had a couple of these types of issues, we expect him to miss at least a couple of weeks.”

Second-year forward Tom Hutchesson will miss another week with a calf injury while Braydon Preuss and Lachlan Keeffe have remained in Sydney to continue their rehab from long-term injuries.
