Josh Kelly and Bobby Hill will be tests for Sunday’s clash with Hawthorn on Sunday after both rolling their ankles during the win over Carlton.

The pair each came from the field following separate incidents during the first quarter of Saturday night’s clash but returned to play out the game.

GIANTS Head of Medical Cullan Ball said:

“Both those lads sprained the lateral ligaments in their ankles and were assessed pitch-side.

“They were both able to go back on - got strapped up, passed a fitness test and returned and play the game out.

“They’re both a little bit sore and swollen early in the week but we think that come the end of the week they’ll be able to get into training and hopefully be available for this weekend.”

Small forward Brent Daniels will be available for selection after recovering from a hamstring injury in round seven.

“Brent’s done really well, he’s a good professional and really applied himself to his rehab,” Ball said.

“He’s been going really well over the past week or so. He’ll train fully this week and we expect him to be available for the game.”

Ruck Shane Mumford is also available after missing last week’s match with a back injury he has been managing.

Meanwhile, Jesse Hogan (calf) and Stephen Coniglio (ankle) are nearing returns to the field with the duo a week away from being available for selection.

“They’re both progressing really well, doing really well in their rehab process,” Ball said.

“They’ll do some training this week and then we think they’ll both train fully next week and be available for selection as well.”

Second-year forward Tom Hutchesson injured his calf and is set for another two-to-three weeks on the sidelines.

“Hutch played in the VFL game the weekend before last and pulled up a bit tight in his calf,” Ball said.

“We sent him off for a scan at Castlereagh which showed that he had a calf strain. He’s likely to miss a couple of weeks.”

The GIANTS take on the Hawks on Sunday afternoon at GIANTS Stadium with the VFL side to play the Swans as a curtain-closer at the same venue following the AFL match.
