Evergreen ruckman Shane Mumford will return to the GIANTS line-up to take on West Coast this Sunday at GIANTS Stadium.

Mumford will pair with Matt Flynn in the ruck for the first time with Zach Sproule also coming in for his third game of the season.

Sproule comes into the forward line for Jesse Hogan, who’ll miss at least the next month of football with a calf injury.

As revealed on Thursday night, experienced pair Sam Reid and Nick Haynes both return from minor injuries while Jeremy Finlayson comes into the side having missed one week through suspension.

Xavier O’Halloran and Kieren Briggs have been omitted with Nick Shipley stepping into the squad as an emergency.

Coach Leon Cameron said he’s disappointed for Hogan.

“We obviously feel for Jesse who’s been good for us in the two games he’s played but hasn’t been able to get a clear run at it,” said Cameron.

“Unfortunately on this occasion he pulled up sore from training and upon further investigation on Friday we received some bad news that he’s set to miss 4-6 weeks of footy.

“This creates another opportunity for Zach Sproule, who’s been able to hit the scoreboard and connect well with our forwards and mids in his two games so far this year.

“It’s great to welcome Nick Haynes and Sam Reid into the side and no doubt their experience will help our young backs.

“West Coast have some of the best bigs in the game and it’ll be good to see Mumford and Flynn coming up against the likes of Naitanui, Allen and Williams.

“The Eagles are an inform side and I know our team will be raring to go come Sunday afternoon at GIANTS Stadium.”

As confirmed on Thursday, Josh Kelly will become the GIANTS' third on-field captain this season after Toby Greene fractured his right shoulder and joined captain Stephen Coniglio on the sidelines for the next month.

The GIANTS will celebrate a Big Big Decade when they face the West Coast Eagles at home on Sunday afternoon.

In season 2021 the GIANTS are celebrating their 10th season in the AFL with Sunday’s game to fall near the anniversary of the first-ever game at GIANTS Stadium - against Essendon on May 26, 2012.
