The GIANTS have included six new faces in their 26-man squad to face the Hawks at GIANTS Stadium on Sunday.

Key defender Phil Davis has been named in the squad with coach Leon Cameron to assess on Friday if the former captain takes his spot in the side after hamstring tightness in round four.

“He’s given himself every chance,” Cameron said.

“He trained today and ran at a really good clip. We’ll see how he pulls up tomorrow and then if he can complete the Captain’s Run it’s definitely more favourable than not.”

With the final team to be named at 5pm on Friday, the GIANTS have opted to include Lachlan Keeffe, Daniel Lloyd, Tommy Sheridan, Sam Jacobs, Jye Caldwell and Matt Buntine on an extended interchange.

As confirmed earlier in the week, running back Zac Williams will miss the next month with a hamstring injury.

Fellow defender Sam Taylor will also miss this week’s clash with back soreness.

Cameron said his side are looking forward to taking on the Hawks at home on Sunday night.

“We know it’s going to be a hard fought clash like it always is when we take on Hawthorn,” Cameron said.

“We took a step in the right direction last week but we’ll need to bring that intensity again against a side who have proved they're one of the top teams this year.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to take on a quality side at our home ground in front of our members and fans this week.”
