Most teams are afraid to mention the 'F-word', but the GIANTS has finals on its mind heading into the back-end of the NAB AFL Women's season.

The GIANTS are on track to reach the finals for the first time in the club's AFLW existence after Sunday's gripping five-point win against reigning premiers Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.

With two games remaining, the GIANTS (4-2) are second in the Conference A standings, half a game ahead of third-placed Brisbane (3-1-2), a game and a half clear of Gold Coast (2-1-3) and two games in front of Geelong (2-4) and the Crows (2-4).

The top three teams in each conference qualify for the finals, meaning the GINATS can guarantee their spot with victory against the Cats at GIANTS Stadium on Saturday.

Gun GIANTS midfielder Alyce Parker said the side had spoken about creating a piece of history for the club.

"We are (talking about finals) with the shortness of the season," Parker said.

"(Sunday) was a big game, we had a bit of weight on it and we spoke about that.

It's one of those wins where we weren't the favourites, but we had that belief.

"It's an important win for us.

"We're very stoked to be going into the next two weeks with the finals within reach."

Parker hopes the season will continue despite the uncertainty surrounding the escalation of the coronavirus pandemic.

Last Sunday's win over the Crows was played behind closed doors, leading to a unique atmosphere.

"In a way, because it's quiet, it relaxes us," Parker said.

"We can hear each other a lot more, we know what's happening around the field and there's not much distraction around.

"We'd love to have an atmosphere, we're missing that, but the reality is, that's what it is at the moment.

"Hopefully that'll turn around in the next few weeks, months, whatever it looks like."

Parker, 19, continued her outstanding season with a game-high 30 disposals, including 15 contested possessions.

"It was a good game and it's a product of how we play as a team," she said.

"In the last few weeks, we've really gelled as a team and learnt that we're best when we play together.

"I think when there's good individual performances, it's on the back of what our teammates are doing for us."
