Coach: Alan McConnell

2020 captain: Alicia Eva

2019 best and fairest: Rebecca Beeson

2019 in a nutshell: After losing their first three games it was always going to be tough for the GIANTS. There were some promising signs later in the season but although they finished just outside the top two in Conference B, they won just two games.

New players: Jessica Allan, Georgia Garnett, Emily Goodsir, Maggie Gorham, Sarah Halvorsen, Annalyse Lister, Tait Mackrill (re-drafted), Rebecca Privitelli, Lisa Steane, Britt Tully (re-drafted), Lisa Whitely (re-drafted)

Notable departures: Amanda Farrugia (retired), Christina Bernardi, Maddy Collier, Phoebe Monahan, Emma Swanson

Inactive players: Nil

2020 opponents: Gold Coast (h), North Melbourne (a), West Coast (h), Brisbane (a), Richmond (h), Adelaide (a), Geelong (h), Western Bulldogs (a)

Circle it: The GIANTS' round six clash with the Cats will be the first ever AFLW/AFL double-header, with the GIANTS to take on Geelong to kick off the AFL season at GIANTS Stadium.

Player to watch: Yvonne Bonner was outstanding in her debut season and the Irish forward will only get better after another full pre-season. Excitement machine.

Best Rising Star chance: Maggie Gorham

2020 prediction: It could be another tough season for the GIANTS under new skipper Alicia Eva. McConnell's midfield is one of the competition's best but kicking a winning score might be an issue, unless Bonner, Staunton and Jacinda Barclay can find goals consistently.
