Daniel Lloyd is keeping the process simple, but his goal is clear: he wants to make an impact in the GIANTS’ best 22 again in 2019.

The 26-year-old was last month upgraded to the GIANTS’ senior list after spending three years as a rookie, a deserved reward after his best season in the orange and charcoal.

Lloyd played 14 games in 2018 – doubling his efforts from the year before – and kicked 11 goals, averaging 11.8 disposals, 1.4 one-percenters and an elite 4.1 tackles per game.

Now embarking on his fourth pre-season with the club, the forward told GIANTS TV he was happy to have earned the upgrade.

“It’s good – I spent three years on the rookie list and had a good year last year and earnt my spot on the (senior) list,” he said.

“I’m excited for what this year’s got and I’m ready to go.

“(The goal is to) stay fit and healthy, first things first, get through the pre-season and then build from there and hopefully have an impact in that 22.”

The GIANTS’ second-to-fourth year players began their pre-season training last week, with the club’s new draftees and rookie joining in at the beginning of this week.

For Lloyd, the routine of training, recovery and conditioning is a welcome return.

“It’s good to be back,” he said. “You get to the end of the off-season and you want a bit more time off, but you want routine as well.

“It’s good to settle back in. We’ve just started our second week and all the boys have come back in pretty impressive fitness.

“We’ve just had the draftees come in and they're integrating in the training now, which is good. They’re all good kids, and I’m sure they’re looking forward to getting into their first pre-season as well.”
