The GIANTS have issued a call for great ideas to the ACT community to ensure Canberrans directly contribute to the recently announced Manuka Green proposal.

The call for great ideas initiative invites ideas from anyone in the community - via an online questionnaire at www.manukagreen.com.au and a number of pop-up information stands throughout Canberra - to inform the ongoing planning of the Manuka Green proposal.

Ideas and feedback received via the call for great ideas initiative will inform the design brief for the proposed design competition to be held by the GIANTS should the ACT Government proceed with the proposal.

GIANTS Chief Executive Officer David Matthews said meaningful engagement with the local and broader Canberra communities was a vitally important aspect when considering the process to revitalise Manuka Oval and the surrounding precinct.

“Last week’s announcement of our proposal to upgrade Manuka Oval to become an international-standard sporting facility and mixed-use precinct was the start of a conversation,” Mr Matthews said.

“We want to hear the community’s great ideas – no matter how big or small – to help us shape our proposal to give Canberra the world-class sporting facility and precinct it deserves.

“We’re calling on everyone – local residents, spectators, community groups, service providers, sporting clubs and other users of Manuka Oval, local businesses and indeed all Canberrans – to get online and tell us their great ideas for the precinct.

“I encourage everyone who would like the opportunity to engage with us in planning Manuka Green to visit the website and complete the call for great ideas questionnaire.”

The call for great ideas is the latest step in the GIANTS’ ongoing commitment to engaging the local community and other key stakeholders on the Manuka Green proposal.

In addition to providing ideas and feedback via the online questionnaire, over the coming weeks members of the public can also visit pop-up information stands located across Canberra. Details of locations will be made available at www.manukagreen.com.au

“A call for great ideas is one way of tapping into the collective knowledge and insight of the broader Canberra community,” Mr Matthews added.

“Someone might have feedback that encourages us to rethink how to further connect the oval with the areas around it, how we can make the space better for the public, or identify other important community facilities and services to be included.

“No one knows the Manuka Oval precinct better than the people of Manuka and the broader Canberra community which is why we’re seeking their help in informing the ongoing planning of the Manuka Green proposal."
