Exciting midfielder Matthew Kennedy has joined the GIANTS after being selected at pick 13 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft in Adelaide.

The GIANTS secured Kennedy, a member of the PM CAPITAL GIANTS Academy, by matching a first-round bid from Richmond.

The 18-year-old burst onto the scene later than most, choosing to play senior football for Collingullie alongside his three older brothers and also played for the NSW/ACT Rams in the TAC Cup.

Kennedy missed the national championships because of injury but was in outstanding form in the back half of the season.

Likened to courageous Swans midfielder Luke Parker, Kennedy has no trouble winning contested ball and can be dangerous overhead when pushing forward.

Kennedy turned heads at the recent AFL Combine, impressing with his athleticism and fitness, scoring 14.12 in the beep test.

He also finished top-10 in the relative vertical jump and relative running vertical jump along with being among the best performers in the goal kicking test.

It was a successful draft for the GIANTS who used all their selections on members of the PM CAPITAL GIANTS Academy, re-inforcing the importance of developing home-grown talent.

Joining Kennedy at the club is Jacob Hopper, Harrison Himmelberg and Matthew Flynn.
