Star young forward Jeremy Cameron has signed a five-year deal with the GIANTS that will keep him at the club until the end of 2020.

Cameron became the GIANTS’ first All-Australian player in 2013 at the age of just 20 when he booted 62 goals and won the Kevin Sheedy Medal as club champion.

The 21 year-old has played 51 games and kicked 120 goals since he joined the GIANTS in 2011 from Dartmoor in Victoria and is considered one of the rising stars of the AFL.

Cameron said he was excited about the future at the GIANTS.

“This was probably an easier decision than my first contract,” he said. “If you go home you are basically walking out when things are starting to turn.

“I can see a lot of success coming up here. I think there is a really good vibe around the club. Everyone knows where we’re going and what we want to do.

“We know we’re going in the right direction. We all want to stick together and have that success.”

Cameron said putting pen to paper in the same week as his good mate Devon Smith was an added bonus.

“There were a lot of calls made (yesterday) but to finally get it done before we decided to go fishing was really a great thing for us so we could relax out there and the fish were biting too so it was a pretty good day."

Cameron’s is the latest player to re-commit to the GIANTS following Smith, Phil Davis, Jonathon Patton, Toby Greene, Adam Tomlinson, Nick Haynes, Josh Kelly and Adam Kennedy.

Chief Executive David Matthews said Cameron’s signing was a landmark day for the club.

“Jeremy Cameron’s re-signing is a significant moment for the GIANTS. He is not only a very gifted young player but a terrific young man and it’s a great endorsement of our club,” Matthews said.

“He was one of the first players to join the club in 2011 and by 2020 will be a 10 year player for the GIANTS

“Like a growing number of our players, he now considers Sydney to be home and this is where he wants to live and play football.

“There’s never been a better time to be part of the GIANTS as we continue our climb up the ladder and ultimately push towards premiership success.”

Coach Leon Cameron said he was delighted to have secured Cameron on a long-term basis.

“Jeremy is an outstanding talent and a big part of our plans for 2015 and beyond. The fact that he and a number of our players have already re-signed shows they are buying into this club and want to be part of its success.”
