Following the announcement of round one of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership fixture this morning, GIANTS fans have plenty get excited about heading into the new year with new jumper numbers revealed for eight GIANTS this week.

Draftees Aaron Cadman, Harry Rowston, Darcy Jones, Max Gruzewski, Toby McMullin, Nick Madden and Jason Gillbee along with new recruit Toby Bedford, all received their new numbers as the team finalises their pre-season preparations before the Christmas break.

Exciting power forward and number one draft pick Aaron Cadman announced on draft night which jumper number he had his eye on, citing number five as his first choice.

The left-footer will begin his career in the number five jumper which was most recently worn by Tanner Bruhn and
has been previously worn by Jye Caldwell, as well as inaugural GIANT Dylan Shiel.

After wearing number 12 at the Demons, new small forward Toby Bedford will take over jumper number 14 – worn by inaugural GIANT Tomas Bugg, and most recently by Tim Taranto who made the move to Richmond during the off-season.

Academy product and NSW local Harry Rowston, will take on jumper number 24, vacated by Matt de Boer who recently retired after 10 years and 211 games in the AFL, including 85 for the GIANTS.

Exciting WA product Darcy Jones will pull on number two which was worn by Curtly Hampton before him, and most recently Jacob Hopper.

Max Gruzewski will begin his career in the number 35 jumper.

The number 35 jumper was originally worn by GIANTS captain Toby Greene for 19 games (and eight goals) before he made the move to number four in 2013. It was the same time Aiden Corr took over the number which he wore through until 2020.

Toby McMullin takes over the number 31 which was previously worn by inaugural GIANT Jacob Townsend, Jeremy Finlayson, and most recently Jarrod Brander.

Rookie draftee and ruckman Nick Madden who is a GIANT already at 204cm and 112kg will take on the number 41 jumper. Current Ruck Coach, Shane Mumford, who famously wore the number 41 for 116 games for the orange and charcoal is the only player to have worn the number before him.

Rookie draftee Jason Gillbee will pull on the number 42 jumper which was previously worn by Mark Whiley and most recently vacated by Jake Stein.
