The GIANTS have claimed their first win of the 2022 Female Winter Series with an 88-point victory over the Swans at North Sydney Oval.

AFLW-listed players Georgia Garnett, Ally Dallaway, Jessica Doyle and Brodee Mowbray starred for the GIANTS as they recorded a dominant 1.4 (10) to 14.14 (98) win over their cross-town rivals.

Consisting of players and from across NSW and the ACT, the Female Winter Series provides an opportunity for elite local talent to continue developing their game during the AFLW off-season, as well as providing an opportunity for young and emerging talent to put their skills on display.

GIANTS Winter Series coach Lloyd Perris credited the win to his side’s ability to gel together quickly.

"Meeting your teammates for the first time on game-day can always be challenging, but the group quickly connected and played the team first football that is expected at the GIANTS," Perris said.

"The Swans challenged us with some hard attack on the ball and strong tackle pressure, but through the midfield we were well led by Georgie Jaques, Ally Dallaway and Brodee Mowbray who were strong in the contest, drove the ball forward and allowed us to control large parts of the game.

"We wanted to play a fast and exciting brand of football that created lots of scoring opportunities. Our girls put the Swans defenders under pressure by getting the ball deep into our forward line.

"Georgia Garnett and Eleri Morris provided strong targets, presenting and marking well to finish with five goals between them.

"Olivia Cicolini enjoyed working with them and kicked a great crumbing goal, while our captain for the day, Jess Doyle, led the way with her forward pressure.

"Teagan Germech was difficult to get past at centre half back, winning her own ball and linking up well with fellow defenders Georgia Clayden and Tess Cattle.

"Overall, the girls displayed a consistent brand of GIANTS football and we're looking forward to many tough contests against the Swans in the future, with the next one being on May 28 in Canberra."

The GIANTS take on the Swans in game two at Manuka Oval on Saturday May 28.
