Critical to the success and future of this football club, is putting in place the best people to build the strongest list possible.

GWS set about securing some of the most experienced and leading football and sports professionals in the country, including Kevin Sheedy, Graeme Allan, Alan McConnell and John Quinn among others.

In late 2009 the AFL commission approved a set of list concession rules to ensure that GWS had the opportunity to attract and secure the best talent from around Australia. The focus was placed on setting the foundations for the future.

The highlights include nine first round picks in the 2011 draft, the top eight rookie picks for the 2010 rookie draft, zoned access to players from NSW, ACT and the Northern Territory, the opportunity to priority list up to a dozen players born between January and April 1993, access to 16 uncontracted players and the right to have an expanded list and increased salary cap.

The end result is an exciting list of emerging young footballers coming together to build the foundations of this Club. The response from these footballers and their families has been exceptional. They’re excited by the opportunity and genuinely want to be the future of this Club.
