Player Bio

Key defender Tim Mohr joined the GIANTS from the Casey Scorpions as a mature age recruit in 2011. The Tasmanian made his debut in round one, 2012 and is often set the job of marking the opposition’s best forward. He has good pace and agility for his size and is comfortable both in a one-on-one contest and when running out of defence. Back-to-back knee reconstructions stalled his career but Mohr made a successful return to football during the 2016 season.

The big key defender worked his way back from a second knee reconstruction last year and made his first senior appearance since round 18, 2014 when he played against Gold Coast in round eight. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury the following week cost him his spot, and despite some solid late-season form in the NEAFL, he couldn't get it back. The 28-year-old popular clubman will be a valuable member of the defensive squad in 2017.

An original GIANT, the powerful defender made his return from a knee reconstruction early in the 2015 season but unfortunately lasted just five games in the NEAFL before re-injuring his left knee. A second bout of ACL surgery will see Mohr back playing this year, but senior football seems a long way away. The GIANTS will likely take a cautious approach with his second comeback.

After a serious foot issue in the pre-season and a knee injury once the year started, the key defender returned in round eight. He quickly hit his straps, showing strong form in eight AFL games before another knee injury struck, requiring a reconstruction. It was a cruel blow, but he will work hard to get back as soon as possible. Signed a new contract tying him to the club until 2016.

After a promising rookie campaign for the mature-age recruit, Mohr made a significant step forward in 2013, playing all 22 games and taking on some of the biggest and best forwards in the AFL. He averaged better than 14 touches and almost five marks and is a critical member of the young GIANTS backline.

A mature-age recruit from the Casey Scorpions, Mohr was a mainstay of the GWS backline for much of the season, appearing in 13 of the club's first 14 games. He then experienced some groin trouble and spent the closing weeks of the year in the NEAFL, but the well-built defender impressed with his spoiling and marking ability and showed he can handle the pressures of senior football.

A tall defender originally from Tasmania, Mohr was recruited from the Casey Scorpions, where he won the best and fairest award in 2011. Possessing great strength and size, Mohr can play centre half-back or full-back and has done the hard work to earn his AFL call up.
