After joining the GIANTS at the end of 2011 as a mature age recruit in a coaching and playing role, Chad Cornes was one of the GIANTS most consistent players in our inaugural season.

Cornes played 16 games in the GIANTS backline in 2012 and was awarded the Trojan Workhorse of the Year Award at the club’s inaugural best and fairest.

His most impressive performances in 2012 came in the club’s historic first win over the Gold Coast in Round 7 when Cornes racked up 28 disposals and 12 marks and in the club’s Round 2 clash with North Melbourne when the backman collected 32 disposals and ten marks.

At the end of the 2012 season, the GIANTS announced that Cornes would play on in 2013.
