PLAYER BIO

Brett Deledio was drafted to Richmond as the number one pick in the 2004 NAB AFL Draft. From Kyabram, in rural Victoria, Deledio made his debut in round one, 2005 and went on to play all 22 games in his debut season. He won the 2005 NAB AFL Rising Star and became the youngest player to represent Australia in the International Rules in that same season. Over 243 games with Richmond he won two Best and Fairest awards (2008, 2009) and was named All Australian in 2012 and 2015. He was Vice-Captain of the Tigers from 2013-2016 before joining the GIANTS at the end of the 2016 season. Deledio's first season at the GIANTS bore just seven games including the Preliminary Final, with persistent calf injuries restricting his impact.

The former Tiger was a massive recruit when he virtually fell into the GIANTS' lap during the trade period and brings more vital experience to the list. Deledio failed to poll a Brownlow vote last year for just the second time in his 12 seasons in the AFL, with a calf problem limiting the star to just 11 games. The 29-year-old can play anywhere on the ground and is likely to find himself doing just that this year, with his elite kicking skills and speed a huge asset for the GIANTS.
