Four GIANTS have been drafted to compete in the new-look realestate.com.au AFLX competition later this month.

Reigning Kevin Sheedy Medallist Lachie Whitfield and newly-reappointed GIANTS co-captain Phil Davis will line up for Jack Riewoldt’s Rampage team, while vice-captain Stephen Coniglio and seven-time GIANTS leading goal-kicker Jeremy Cameron will play for Nat Fyfe’s Flyers.

The realestate.com.au AFLX 2019 Draft was broadcast on Wednesday night with the four team captains – Riewoldt, Fyfe, Patrick Dangerfield (Bolts) and Eddie Betts (Deadly) – each selecting 12 players to fill their teams with some of the best talent in the AFL.

Whitfield was Rampage’s top pick, with Riewoldt selecting the silky-skilled winger/half-back with his first selection, number four overall.

Cameron and Davis were called out with consecutive picks, with Cameron finding his way to the Flyers via selection 11, while Davis was Riewoldt’s choice with pick 12.

Coniglio’s name was called out by Fyfe for pick 19 and, with a maximum number of four selections per AFL team, the GIANTS’ night was wrapped up within the first 20 picks.

The 2019 AFLX competition will take place at Marvel Stadium on Friday, February 22, from 7pm AEDT.

It will be a round-robin tournament, with games of 10-minute halves. The top two teams will play off in a Grand Final.

The games will take place on a rectangular field, with eight players on the field and six on the bench.

The tournament will be broadcast on the Seven Network and Foxtel, as well as on the AFL Live App and AFL.com.au.
