GIANTS forward Toby Greene will undergo ankle surgery on Thursday.

Greene originally suffered the injury in the Semi Final against Collingwood at the MCG in September.

The injury was managed conservatively across the off-season, however, failed to improve at the rate expected with the GIANTS medical staff deciding surgery is now required.

It’s expected Greene will be back running and into full training following the Christmas break.

GIANTS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce said: “It’s unfortunate that Toby has suffered this setback but by making this decision now, we don’t run the risk of him missing any games.

“No doubt once the surgery has been completed, Toby will vigorously attack his rehab.”

The GIANTS first to fourth year players return to training on Monday, November 19 with the more experienced players returning a fortnight later on December 3.
