It’s been over a month since the last women’s footy wrap and plenty has happened with the Women’s Winter Series wrapping up and more than a dozen GIANTS in action across three leagues.

AFL Sydney

GIANTS AFL Women’s captain Amanda Farrugia has returned from injury for the Macquarie University Warriors, playing a key role in their thrilling come-from-behind win over Sydney University.

Farrugia hadn’t played since the GIANTS’ AFLW round seven loss to Brisbane back in March, but kicked a goal in the final quarter as the top-of-the-table Warriors beat over the Bombers with the final kick of the game.

Ellie Brush was rock solid in defence for the Warriors, who have lost just one game this season.

Erin McKinnon was outstanding in the ruck for the Bombers for three quarters, while Nicola Barr provided great run and attack off half-back before an ankle injury ended her game in the third quarter.

UNSW Canberra 1st Grade Women’s

Jodie Hicks has been in top form for the Belconnen Magpies, featuring in their best players in three of their last four games and kicking two goals.

Hicks was amongst the Magpies’ best as they smashed Tuggeranong by 136 points on Saturday as her sister Ellie Hicks kicked six goals.

Britt Tully could be on her way to a third-successive Mary Ann Bainrot Medal (AFL Canberra Women's best and fairest) after being named in the Gungahlin Jets’ best players in every game this year, including two best-on-ground performances in the past month of football.

Tully was named her side’s best player for her performance in their loss to Eastlake on Saturday.

VFLW

Midfielder Emma Swanson has been in stunning form for the NT Thunder over the past month and was named second-best on ground in their win over Williamstown on Saturday.

Swanson is averaging a goal per game for the second-placed Thunder, and has been named amongst their best in the last five games.

Meanwhile, Phoebe Monahan has continued her run of strong performances for Richmond in between duties with the Northern GIANTS in the Women’s Winter Series.

The running defender/midfielder has featured in the Tigers’ best players in four of their last five games and was named best on ground in their big loss to Geelong on Saturday.

Four GIANTS were in action in the clash between the Darebin Falcons and Hawthorn on Saturday but it was Jess Dal Pos’ Falcons who came out on top.

Dal Pos was named second-best on ground for Darebin in their thrilling four point win over the Hawks.

Rebecca Beeson continued her good form, kicking a goal and being named fourth-best on ground in the loss. The forward has put together and impressive month of football, kicking five goals in four games and being named the Hawks’ MVP for her performance in their win over Williamstown.

Defender Pepa Randall was solid down back for the Hawks in the loss and has been returning to form after a fortnight out of the game.

Maddy Collier has impressed at Essendon, notching up three best-on-ground performances since the last women’s footy wrap and was named amongst the Bombers’ best in their loss to Collingwood on the weekend.

Collier’s teammate Tanya Hetherington looks to be causing GIANTS AFL coach Alan McConnell some headaches with the key defender kicking two goals in her last three games.

The veteran kicked showed her abilities aren’t limited to the defensive end of the ground, going forward and kicking a terrific snap from the pocket on Saturday and being named second-best on ground.
