Vice-captain Stephen Coniglio looks set to return from concussion when the GIANTS take on Brisbane on Saturday afternoon.

“He’s gone all the way down the (concussion protocols) pathway, we’re really happy with how he sits at the moment,” said GIANTS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce.

“He’s ticked every box and I would expect him to feature this weekend.”

Joyce confirmed Rory Lobb will miss the next month of football following a heavy hit in the round 12 clash with the Suns which forced the ruckman to leave the ground in an ambulance.

“He got the hit to the middle part of his back - what we call the thoracic spine - and he was in a lot of pain,” Joyce said.

“We ended up sending him to hospital to get some checks - what you’re looking for is something big like a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) or punctured lung, those sorts of things, and he didn’t have that which was fantastic.

“We sent him for an MRI and it’s come back with a really small fracture so it’s something we will continue to manage over the next couple of weeks, I expect him to be around about the month stage.”

Forward Daniel Lloyd will miss 4-6 weeks with an MCL tear.

“He’s got a grade two MCL, the medial collateral ligament, which is basically, the key seat belt on the inside of the knee,” Joyce said.

“What we need to do is to brace him and make sure it knits up well. He’s a highly combative and contested sort of player so he’s going to get his knee into those sorts of situations.

“So, we need to make sure that’s knotted really well and we’re aiming to get him to run straight lines to start with - hopefully this week - and progress him from there.”

In exciting news for the youngster, midfielder Will Setterfield completed his first running session on the Alter-G treadmill this week in his return from an ACL injury.
