Held at the Waterview in Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park, the Kevin Sheedy Medal is one of the highlights of the GIANTS’ calendar and there will be plenty of intrigue when it comes to crowning the Club Champion for this season.
Last year’s count saw forward Toby Greene take home the Sheedy Medal by just three votes ahead of Tom Scully. The reigning club champion could take home the medal again this year after an outstanding season that saw him finish as the GIANTS’ leading goalkicker for the first time.
Midfielders Josh Kelly and Dylan Shiel could feature prominently in the vote count after they were both named in the 2017 Virgin Australia All Australian team, while last year’s runner up Scully missed just one game in 2017 and starred throughout the year.
Co-captains Callan Ward could take home his second Sheedy Medal after another consistent season that saw him play every game, while his counterpart Phil Davis could poll well after an impressive season in defence.
With formalities underway from 7.30pm, the live stream will commence from 7.15pm with feature interviews with some of the biggest names at the GIANTS as well as every round of the Sheedy Medal count.
Apart from the prestigious Club Champion Award, the winners of Members and Fans MVP, Mark of the Year, Goal of the Year and the Coaches Award will also be presented.
