A quick fix is possible for the GIANTS says coach Leon Cameron, with just one quarter costing his team its qualifying final against Adelaide on Thursday night.

The Crows kicked 5.3 to 0.1 in the second term to open up a half-time lead of 32 points, from which the GIANTS never recovered.

Cameron said the fact his players reacted after the main break gave him optimism they could turn things around in a do-or-die semi-final clash with Port Adelaide or West Coast next weekend.

"I challenged our guys at half-time – you can't serve up that sort of footy in finals - and they responded," Cameron said.

"You'd love to have your time over again in that second quarter and just say, 'Boys, how did you perform well in the third and fourth, and halve the contest in the second?'"

"Then we'd have a ball game.

"I couldn't sit here and say we'd bounce back if we had a really poor second half, but I was really pleased with our second half."

The GIANTS won the contested ball count (160 to 159) and broke even in clearances (42 apiece) and inside 50s (52 each), with 13 more entries than the Crows after half-time.

Cameron was happy with the level of pressure his players applied, but stressed their disposal needed to improve if they were to turn things around.

"We let ourselves down defensively in the second quarter, but throughout the entire game we need to be better with our ball use," he said.

"In saying that, we've had 108 tackles and 32 in our forward 50.

"We haven't done that all year, so the effort is there.

"But we didn't give good supply to our forwards, nor did our forwards take some opportunities when they needed to.

"We hung in there, but we've got to fix it, because if you don't play four quarters in this game you'll get beaten, especially in finals."

While Cameron said they would prefer to have won the right to another week off, he conceded the opportunity to play another game straight away could end up being a positive.

"You finish top four for a reason and you get a second chance, and that's what we've got," he said.

"We'll bounce back, we look forward to the challenge.

"Time will tell, but we look forward to continuity, we play again next Saturday and we get a chance to resurrect the disappointment of playing three quarters of footy and letting ourselves down on one of those.

"Port or West Coast, we can't get there quick enough."
