GIANTS veteran Ryan Griffen is edging closer to a return to the field and is in the mix to play in a Reserves practice match later this week.

Should he complete training on Monday and Thursday, Griffen will play for the GIANTS Reserves in their scratch match in Adelaide on Friday.

The midfielder suffered back-to-back syndesmosis ankle injuries and last played at senior level in early-April but has returned to the main group for training in recent weeks.

With both the GIANTS and Crows’ Reserves sides out of competition at the moment, the clubs have organised a practice match for Friday morning following the Qualifying Final on Thursday night.

The GIANTS take on the Crows on Thursday night to kick off the 2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series.
