Star forward Jeremy Cameron and young midfielder Tim Taranto both face fitness tests ahead of the GIANTS’ clash with the Eagles at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

Cameron has missed the past fortnight since injuring his hamstring in the round 19 win over Fremantle.

After missing two weeks with hamstring tightness prior to that, Cameron will need to pass rigorous a fitness test to be available for selection this weekend.

Last season’s number two draft pick, Taranto has been sidelined since round 14 when he suffered a syndesmosis ankle injury that required surgery.

The 19-year-old will face a fitness test in a bid to return to the field this week and could be eased back through the GIANTS Reserves, who take on the Brisbane Lions Reserves in the curtain-raiser at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.

Forward Devon Smith will also face a test after missing last week’s win over the Bulldogs with a minor knee injury.

Fellow forward Sam Reid will be available for selection following five weeks out with an ankle injury.

Veteran Steve Johnson could be rested this weekend after playing the past two matches. The former Cat announced last week that this season would be his last with coach Leon Cameron confirming post-match on Friday night that his workload would need to be managed over his final few games.

"He did really well to play this week, we were a little concerned with the six-day break," Cameron said.

“We've got to make sure we manage his time and that might be next week he might not play.

"There's no doubt he'll want to play the last game down at Geelong, but we've got to keep monitoring it.”

The GIANTS take on West Coast in the club’s final home game of the season at Spotless Stadium at 4:35pm on Saturday with the NEAFL curtain-raiser to kick off at 12:55pm. Click here to get your tickets.
