As the GIANTS prepare to take on Richmond for the second time in 2017 and play their first game at the MCG in over 12 months, it’s time to look back at all the stats that matter ahead of the big clash.

Richmond have been strong over the past month when kicking out from an opposition behind.

They are ranked third in the AFL over the past month for scores from kick ins and are fourth in the competition for meters gained from kick ins, averaging 957m a game.

The Tigers’ ability to rebound so potently from kick ins is down to their overall strong defensive setup over the past month.

They’re number one in the league for going coast to coast with one in three defensive 50 rebounds eventually becoming an inside 50.

As a result, they lead the AFL for points scored after defensive rebounds averaging 29.5 points per game.

Richmond has also changed the way they move the football since last time the two sides met in round nine. Back then the Tigers were number one in the competition for percentage of long kicks, but over the past month they’ve slowed things down and are second in the completion for percentage of short kicks per game.

The Tigers have also been more effective with their handballing over the past month, they’re first in the competition for both metres gained by handball and handball efficiency.
