Big Guns Back for Blockbuster Derby

GIANTS Media  July 13, 2017 6:15 PM

Team: Round 17 v Swans There are some big names back for Sydney Derby XIII. Get all the latest news thanks to Virgin Australia.

Toby Greene and Steve Johnson both return to the GIANTS line up.

We know they’ll come out hard on Saturday night and we will too so we’re looking forward to a big game in front of a huge crowd at Spotless Stadium.

The GIANTS have been boosted by the inclusions of Toby Greene, Steve Johnson and Zac Williams for the blockbuster Sydney Derby XIII at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.

Three time premiership veteran Johnson returns after a week on the sidelines with knee soreness. Reigning club champion Greene (ankle) and star half-back Williams (hamstring) come back into the side after each missing the past two matches.

“It’s great to be able to bring Toby, Zac and Steve back into the side,” said coach Leon Cameron.

“They all trained hard on Wednesday and pulled up well today so we’re confident they’ll contribute on Saturday night.

“We wouldn’t bring them back if they weren’t 100 per cent and we’re looking forward to seeing them back out on the field.”

Journeyman Sam Reid goes out of the side with an ankle injury while forward Daniel Lloyd and midfielder Tendai Mzungu have been omitted.

Jeremy Cameron rested up at Wednesday’s main training session but he’s right to go and has been named for Saturday night’s blockbuster.

With the game almost a sell-out, there’s been an air of excitement around  the match-up all week. The GIANTS are coming off back-to-back draws while the Swans moved into the eight for the first time this season after a comprehensive victory over the Suns.

“It’s always a massive game when you take on the Swans and ladder position doesn’t seem to matter,” Cameron said.

“We know they’ll come out hard on Saturday night and we will too so we’re looking forward to a big game in front of a huge crowd at Spotless Stadium.”

Be there as the GIANTS take on cross-town rivals the Swans in the latest instalment in the Sydney Derby in a blockbuster Saturday night clash at Spotless Stadium.
