We’ve taken an in-depth look at the stats from the past month of football to see what could separate the GIANTS and Carlton at the final siren on Sunday at Etihad Stadium.

Carlton have been kick-crazy over the past four weeks. The Blues lead the competition for kick to handball ratio and sit second in the AFL for total kicks, averaging 231 per game.

Sam Docherty and Kade Simpson have been fine exponents of disposal by boot over the past month, both ranked inside the top 10 in the competition for kicks.

The kicks aren’t just hurried kicks either, they hit the target quite often with Carlton second in the competition for marks, averaging 107 per game over the past four weeks of football.

The GIANTS will need to be tight on their man, as they are currently ranked 10th in the AFL for marks conceded, averaging 94 marks against per game.

The past month has seen both the GIANTS and the Blues be quite successful with scoring after going end to end.

Carlton are third in the AFL for percentage of scores from Defensive 50 rebounds, with 22.6 per cent while the GIANTS top that effort sitting in second with 24.6 per cent.

Both side’s scoring prowess has been on show across the past month with the GIANTS scoring from 27.2 per cent of their inside 50’s (third in the AFL).

Carlton are close behind in fourth place, having scored from 27 per cent of their inside 50 across the past month.

While the percentages might look tight it is worth remembering that the GIANTS average 51.4 inside 50’s per game (12th in the AFL) while Carlton average just 40.8 (18th in the AFL).
