Heath Shaw has been cleared of any injury but Harry Himmelberg will miss at least a week, following a heavy collision in the NEAFL.

The second-year defender hurt his ribs in the GIANTS Reserves’ loss to the Canberra Demons and is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.

The news is better for the veteran Shaw who was hampered by a shin complaint during the GIANTS’ win over Port Adelaide, but returned to the field and will line up in the Sydney Derby this weekend.

The GIANTS are also expected to re-gain star forward Steve Johnson, who missed last week’s game with a knee injury but is set to do a full training session on Wednesday.

As reported late last week, fellow defender Matt Buntine will miss the rest of the season and requires a knee reconstruction after scans revealed a pre-existing partially torn ACL. Buntine will undergo surgery later this week.

Midfielder Stephen Coniglio is still 2-3 weeks away from returning from his syndesmosis injury while veteran Ryan Griffen and draftee Will Setterfield - who also have syndesmosis injuries - are longer-term prospects, along with recruit Tendai Mzungu (hamstring).

The club is continuing to take a cautious approach with former Tiger Brett Deledio following persistent calf injuries with no timeline set for his return.
