GIANTS key forward Jonny Patton will face a fitness test later this week to determine if he lines up against North Melbourne in Hobart on Saturday.

The big man was a late withdrawal from the GIANTS’ record win over the Suns, having suffered a knock to his hip in the round one clash with the Crows.

There were no new injuries to report from both the AFL and NEAFL matches on the weekend.

Defender Aidan Corr made a successful return to the field in the GIANTS Reserves’ round one clash at Spotless Stadium, recovering well from a hand injury sustained in the final pre-season hit-out a month ago.

New recruit Matt de Boer continues his recovery from a hamstring injury but is still 1-2 weeks away from selection while midfielder Stephen Coniglio is expected to spend another month on the sidelines with his ankle injury.

The club continues to be cautious with Brett Deledio’s return from a persistent calf injury while Tendai Mzungu has begun his rehabilitation on a long-term hamstring injury suffered in round one.

The GIANTS take on North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena in Hobart, Tasmania on Saturday at 1.45pm.
