GIANTS midfielder Jessica Dal Pos has capped off a stellar 2017 AFL Women’s season by being selected in the Virgin Australia AFLW All Australian side and finishing fifth in the AFLW Best and Fairest.

The 23-year-old was named on the interchange at the W Awards in Melbourne on Tuesday night.

Dal Pos was the only GIANT in the final Virgin Australia All Australian 22 with teammates Renee Tomkins, Emma Swanson and Erin McKinnon unlucky to miss out after being named in the 40-player squad last week.

Adelaide’s co-captain Erin Phillips was crowned the competition’s Best and Fairest (polling 14 votes) to accompany her AFLW Premiership medallion, AFLPA MVP, All Australian selection, Goal of the Year win and AFLW Grand Final best on ground award.

Dal Pos polled seven votes to tie for fifth place with Carlton’s Darcy Vescio, Melbourne captain Daisy Pearce and the Western Bulldog’s Emma Kearney in the Best and Fairest count.

Recruited from the Darebin Falcons as a priority signing, Dal Pos was outstanding for the GIANTS throughout their inaugural AFLW campaign averaging 13.9 disposals, seven tackles and four clearances per game.

18-year-old Erin McKinnon finished sixth in the NAB AFLW Rising Star count, which was eventually won by Adelaide midfielder Ebony Marinoff.

Fellow GIANT Nicola Barr was close behind in seventh place as only eight of the 14 nominees received votes.

The inaugural winner of the Gabrielle Trainor Medal, the GIANTS AFLW Club Champion, will be named on Friday night at the Novotel at Sydney Olympic Park.
