Young defender Caleb Marchbank will meet with a surgeon on Wednesday after injuring his shoulder in Sunday’s NEAFL match in Brisbane.

Marchbank suffered an anterior shoulder dislocation in the third quarter with the GIANTS going on to lose by 13-points.

Wednesday’s meeting will solidify Marchbank’s management plan with surgery one option being explored.

The 19-year old was in his second game back in the NEAFL following two ankle injuries that have kept him sidelined since the round two AFL match against Geelong in April.

Meanwhile, there were a number of other injuries to come out of the NEAFL match with Rhys Palmer (calf), Daniel Lloyd (knee) and Tom Downie (shoulder) also sidelined throughout the game.

Palmer’s calf strain and Lloyd’s grade one medial collateral strain will see the pair miss one week each while Tom Downie will undergo a fitness test later this week for an AC joint injury.

Downie will join a host of players facing fitness tests with the availability of Lachie Whitfield (illness), Tim Mohr (hamstring), Will Hoskin-Elliott (quad), Matt Buntine (hamstring) and Nathan Wilson (groin) all to be decided later in the week.

Ryan Griffen (hamstring), Aidan Corr (ankle) and Jacob Hopper (back) remain in the rehabilitation group and are expected to return in the coming weeks.
