GIANTS defender Matthew Buntine has stood beside other leading NSW sports people in Parramatta to show their support for the new road safety campaign, Towards Zero.

Buntine joined with representatives of the Sydney Swans, Western Sydney Wanderers and NSW cricket as well as Deputy Premier and Minister for Police Troy Grant, Minister for Roads Duncan Gay and Executive Director NSW Centre for Road Safety Bernard Carlon.

The Towards Zero campaign aims to kick start community discussion about the human loss on NSW roads and encourage road users to play their part in achieving a move towards zero.

Buntine said the road toll crisis currently hitting NSW was a conversation that has to be had.

“40 more people have lost their lives on the state’s roads this year compared to the same stage last year,” said Buntine.

It’s not just a number. Every person in the road toll is someone’s mother, brother, sister or friend and we have to do everything we can to end this.

“It’s time to start a community conversation about road safety and make a conscious effort to drive the road toll Towards Zero.”

The #TowardsZero campaign will roll out shortly across television, radio, online and social media platforms.
