Defenders Tim Mohr and Nick Haynes both made a successful return to football during the WSU GIANTS’ trial match against the Swans reserves at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday.

The pair - who played half a game each in the backline - got through unscathed following extended stints on the sideline.

Mohr is coming back from from two successive knee reconstructions while Haynes continues his rehabilitation from pre-season groin surgery.

Midfielder Stephen Coniglio also impressed after missing the last two NAB Challenge games with a slight hamstring strain.

Young GIANTS Pat McKenna and Matt Kennedy will both face fitness tests this week ahead of the NEAFL season opener against Sydney University.

The pair missed the WSU GIANTS trial match against Swans Reserves due to slight knee soreness.

Second-year GIANTS Jeremy Finlayson (knee - 2 weeks) and Paul Ahern (knee - season) are the only other names on the injury list.

There were no injuries to report from the GIANTS’ clash with Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday.

The club is expected to take a full-strength side to Canberra for their match against Geelong at Manuka Oval this Sunday.
