Our Season Summary looks back at how each GIANTS player fared during the 2015 AFL season.

Name: Caleb Marchbank

Number: 34

2015 Games:  5 AFL, 14 NEAFL

AFL Fantasy Average: 37

Awards: Nil

Background: Caleb Marchbank was selected with pick 6 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft. He made his debut against North Melbourne at Spotless Stadium in Round 12 this season.

Best Game: AFL Round 21 v Sydney - 14 disposals, 3 marks. He played on several key Swans forwards and Leon Cameron highlighted his relentless endeavour post-match.

Summary: Few people expected Caleb Marchbank to play so many AFL games in his first season but consistent performances in the NEAFL and injuries to senior players opened the door for the GIANTS’ youngest player. Marchbank had a baptism of fire in his debut, playing on experienced campaigner Jarrad Waite without the on-field guidance of injured teammates Phil Davis and Joel Patfull. Confident in his ability, Marchbank was vocal on the field and willing to take risks running off his more experienced opponents.

Pat On The Back: Others may have been intimidated playing on some of the biggest names in the AFL but Marchbank stood up to the challenge and relished the experience.

What They Said: “He’s a terrific young kid, he’s got a really competitive attitude. He likes to fly for his marks, he spoils really well. He’s very courageous in the air and his performances have been getting better and better.” - GIANTS Coach Leon Cameron.

Look Ahead: With five AFL matches now under his belt, Marchbank learned a great deal this season. Another pre-season in the gym will see the 18-year-old bulk up even further and gain much-needed fitness to run-out full games effectively.
