Toby Greene and Jeremy Cameron have both accepted fines from the Match Review Panel for engaging in a melee during the GIANTS’ match against Fremantle.

Greene was charged with a second offence of engaging in a melee during the fourth quarter of the GIANTS’ loss to the Dockers on Sunday. A second offence is a $2500 sanction which was reduced to $1500 with an early plea.

Cameron was charged with a first offence of engaging in a melee for the same incident and accepted a $1000 fine with an early plea. A first offence for engaging in a melee is a $1500 sanction.

Fremantle’s David Mundy and Zac Dawson were also fined for the same incident.

Meanwhile, Dawson has also been charged with striking Cameron during the first quarter of the match and has accepted a two-match sanction with an early plea.

Cameron came off the ground bleeding heavily and struggled to stem the bleeding for the remainder of the match. Cameron managed to play out the game and kick two crucial goals to be one of the GIANTS’ best up forward on the day.

"I thought he was terrific," coach Leon Cameron said after the game, "It's easy to go back into your shell when you've copped one in the beak.

"It is very hard to find space against Fremantle's back six, their whole team. I think we only had it in there 30 times and Jeremy looked dangerous every time it went in there. He hung in there, he hung in there, he presented all the time.”

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report, the Match Review Panel classified the incident as careless contact with high impact to the head.

The offence was classified as a three-match sanction and an early plea reduces the penalty to a two-match sanction.
