The composure of Anthony Hudson, the idiom vocabulary of Dennis Cometti and the exuberant passion of Rex Hunt.

That's how Rick Kerbatieh describes his commentary style, which people will be able to hear this Sunday when the GIANTS play Essendon at Spotless Stadium.

Kerbatieh, a property conveyancer and practicing muslim, will be calling the match in Arabic as part of the 2015 Toyota AFL Multicultural Round celebrations.

You can listen to his unique broadcast via the AFL app along with other matches called in Mandarin, Hindi, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Vietnamese.

It’s the second consecutive season the GIANTS have enlisted a multilingual commentator  – with Chinese born Australian Jamie Pi doing the honours in Mandarin last year.

Kerbatieh said it would be a privilege to help reach a multicultural audience and grow the sport in diverse communities.

“I can talk underwater and have a face for radio so I’m perfect for this gig,” he said.

“Obviously footy is my passion so I’ll be trying to add some colour while also trying to describe the game to a potential new audience.

“There’s a huge Arabic-speaking community in Western Sydney so hopefully I can reach a few of them and create some new GIANTS fans.

“Imagine a mate calling the game next to you in a pub – That’s the sort of style I’m going for. Exciting, friendly and honest."

Multicultural Round highlights the contribution multicultural communities have made to the game’s history and welcomes new communities to embrace Australian Football as fans, players, umpires or administrators.

In 2015, 14 per cent of AFL players listed were born overseas or have one parent who was born overseas.
