The UWS GIANTS have notched their eleventh consecutive win after comfortably beating Eastlake by 93 points in Wagga Wagga.

Leading from start to finish, the UWS GIANTS dominated clearances thanks to a strong performance in the ruck by Andrew Phillips.

Phillips, who was selected with pick four in the 2010 AFL Rookie Draft, thrived against former Adelaide Crows listed ruckman Ben Dowdell.

“Andrew was very good, not just with hit tap work but also with the impact he had around the ground,” UWS GIANTS coach Brett Hand said.

“There were many contributors but I thought Jacob Townsend’s game was outstanding again while Lachie Plowman and Caleb Marchbank were rock solid down back.

“Dylan Addison finished the match with four goals which was a great reward for his hard work over the past few weeks.”

Key forward Jon Patton impressed again, finishing the match with three majors and several contested marks.

PM CAPTIAL GIANTS Academy member and Wagga Wagga local Jock Cornell kicked five goals in front of his home crowd.

Meanwhile Tom Bugg continues to mount a case for a senior re-call after another consistent performance on the wing.

The highlight of the match came in the third term with Jacob Townsend kicking a miraculous goal tight in the forward pocket while in the process of being knocked over.

Two games clear on top of the NEAFL ladder, the UWS GIANTS will look to continue their impressive form against Redland this Sunday at Spotless Stadium.

The UWS GIANTS have never played against Redland, who have previously been part of the AFL Queensland State League competition.

“It’s going to be a new challenge for us because we don’t know too much about them,” Hand said.

“Obviously they’re pushing for a spot in the finals so we’ll do our research this week and hopefully put in a good performance.”

The game will kick off at 11.40am as a curtain raiser ahead of GIANTS v Essendon at 3.20pm.
