Several key GIANTS will face fitness tests this week ahead of the club’s match against Fremantle at Domain Stadium on Sunday.

Co-captain Phil Davis, who has missed the last five games with an ankle injury, headlines the list of GIANTS trying to prove their fitness.

Devon Smith (knee), Rhys Palmer (cork) and Zac Williams (hamstring soreness) will also be assessed during the club’s main training on Thursday.

Courageous defender Matt Buntine will be available for selection after overcoming a concussion suffered a fortnight ago against the Gold Coast.

In other news, small forward Liam Sumner will undergo scans on his troublesome right foot this week.

Sumner was sidelined for more than four months earlier this year after being diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture.

He withdrew late from the UWS GIANTS’ match against Brisbane Reserves last Saturday after experiencing foot soreness.

Meanwhile draftee Pat McKenna will miss the remainder of the season after being booked in for hip surgery this week.

McKenna was selected with pick 23 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft and played 10 games in the NEAFL this season.

Dylan Shiel (knee), Shane Mumford (ankle) and Tim Mohr (knee) remain in the rehab group.

The GIANTS play Fremantle at Domain Stadium at 4.40pm EST this Sunday.
