An eight-goal haul by Jed Lamb has him knocking down the door for senior selection following the UWS GIANTS’ big win over Swans reserves at Blacktown International Sportspark.

Lamb, who has kicked 33 goals in 11 NEAFL games this season, led the attack while captain Sam Reid also dominated up forward, scoring seven goals of his own in the 183-point victory.

It wasn’t just the forwards who impressed, with midfielder Jake Barrett accumulating 43 touches, 15 clearances and laying a game-high 10 tackles while Josh Kelly chimed in with 42 possessions as well.

UWS GIANTS coach Brett Hand said he was pleased to see his side put in a four-quarter effort.

“From the first bounce to the last we played good team-orientated football which was great to see,” Hand said.

“They (Swans reserves) had nine top-up players due to some injuries and suspensions in the senior side and they lost their ruckman in the first half which hurt them.

“Jed has been in really good form of late and he’s worked extremely hard on his goal kicking and leading patterns which is starting to show.

“Our midfielders like Barrett and Kelly were exceptional again with their ability to find the ball but they still have a few areas of their game which they both need to work on.

“Our back six were fantastic including Lachie Plowman who was exceptional in his second game back from an elbow dislocation.

“Adam Tomlinson also took some good contested marks in defence in his first game back from a toe injury.”

Round 14 looms as a crunch match for the top-of-the-ladder UWS GIANTS who play the second placed Aspley Hornets at Spotless Stadium on Sunday from 9.30am.

“It will be a different challenge for us because we haven’t faced them this year and don’t know too much about them,” Hand said.

“We just plan to concentrate on our structures and take things as they come.”
