Everyone knows GIANTS players are talented footballers but how much do you really know about their lives off the field?

Here are five things you didn’t know about ruckman Rory Lobb:

1) Working Class Man - Rory was drafted late into the AFL system at the age of 21. By this point Lobb had already worked as a painter, a labourer, a machine operator and owned his own landscaping business.

2) The Great Outdoors - Lobb loves camping and getting away for a few days to the bush. He grew up in Perth and his favourite place to camp is at Port Gregory which is around six hours away from his home town.

3) Robin Hood - The youngest of six kids, Rory took up archery after his sister and her husband did. He owns his own bow and has struggled to find an Archery centre he can use - his bow has been deemed too powerful because of his 206cm height!

4) Movie Buff - Though he reckons he doesn’t get up to much outside of footy, especially during the season, Rory does love watching movies. His favourite is classic teen comedy Superbad and he’s a big fan of TV show Entourage.

5) Dutch Courage - Though you wouldn’t know it from his last name, Lobb is actually half-dutch. He was taught a few Dutch words as a kid and the tattoo on his ribs is in the Germanic language. It roughly translates to ‘No matter how many times you get beaten down, get back up again’.

This regular series of player stories aims to bring GIANTS fans closer to their heroes by giving a snapshot into their private lives.
