It’s a classic case of sibling rivalry. Heath Shaw and his GIANTS are ready take down big brother Rhyce and his Swans in Sydney Derby VII at the SCG on Saturday.

The playful brothers fronted the media just 24 hours out from the match, with both teams aiming to maintain their perfect record.

GIANTS vice-captain Heath Shaw was quick to get on the front foot, accusing his brother of some dirty tactics ahead of the round three match.

"We haven't really spoken this week until last night when Rhyce's missus cooked me a nice risotto. I was a bit hesitant, I thought she might have put something in it to make me crook, but I feel alright this morning.”

Heath is four years younger than Rhyce and is clearly the antagonist in the close pair.

"Rhyce has also got a new baby boy so he won't give me much attention these days," Heath said.

“I mentioned to Rhyce that if we beat Sydney he needs to buy memberships to the GIANTS for all the Sydney boys, and if they beat us I’ll sit in the Sydney cheer squad for a game."

While the Shaw name is royalty at Collingwood, this generation has left Melbourne and are exploring new territory in Sydney, putting AFL on the map in NSW.

While Heath joked that their famous father Ray was upset the Sydney Derby was clashing with a big day of racing at Randwick, Rhyce said he expects plenty of family to be at the SCG.

“I think the families mark it down on the calendar – we’ve got a few coming up to watch the game,” Rhyce said.

"It’s always good playing against Heath. We’ve shared a bedroom, we’ve shared everything in our lives so to share a footy field in front of hopefully 50,000 (people) will be special.”

When the attention finally turned to Saturday’s match, Heath spoke of the confidence the GIANTS are playing with after starting the season with consecutive wins for the first time.

“It’s like playing your older brother. Sydney are the cross town rival, we’re the young group coming through and you always want to beat your older brother," Heath said.

"After tomorrow only one team is going to be undefeated and we want to take a big step forward.

"We want to play finals footy this year and we’ve got to compete with the best and Sydney are right up there with the best.

"Tomorrow is a big stepping stone going forward and no matter who it is, we want to go out there and win every game.

“We’re hoping to bring a brand of footy that people want to come and watch. With such a young group, the sky is the limit with these players and it’s great to be involved in."
