The GIANTS have made one change to the side that defeated St Kilda last week, bringing in defender Nathan Wilson for the match against Melbourne at StarTrack Oval, Canberra on Saturday.

Wilson comes in to replace fellow defender Curtly Hampton with coach Leon Cameron looking for Wilson to continue his impressive pre-season form.

“He’s been in really, really good form off the half-back line for most of the NAB Challenge and also the early practice matches in the NEAFL as well so he gets an opportunity this week,” Cameron said.

“During last year we switched him back after he came to us as a forward.

“He’s really improved his defensive side of his game and his run and his ability to set up play is something we’re looking forward to seeing on Saturday.

“Curtly Hampton just needs to work on a couple of little areas of his game and I’m sure he can do that.”

With Melbourne impressing in their win over the Gold Coast last weekend, Cameron said it’s going to be an intriguing battle in the nation’s capital.

“It’s a 50/50 game and there’s two exciting, young sides going head-to-head,” Cameron said.

“It’s going to be a cracking game, it’s going to go down to the wire and there’s fantastic duels all over the ground whether it be the ruck with Jamar and Mumford, or Jeremy Cameron possibly on a very exciting, talented player in Tom McDonald for Melbourne.

“All over the ground there’s going to be some great one-on-one battles.”

One of the two sides will be undefeated after round two with Cameron looking forward to the first of three huge home games in Canberra this year.

“We feel as though we’re in good shape, our players are confident and they look forward to playing at StarTrack Oval in Canberra,” Cameron said.

“It’s always good playing there on Saturday afternoon in the traditional time-slot of 10 past two.

“We’re expecting a really, really good crowd, a sea of orange, to come out and watch the GIANTS play.

“But also the Demons supporters as well, they can clearly see their club is heading in the right direction along with ours as well so it’s going to be a really good crowd and they’re going to see a really good spectacle.”

The GIANTS play Melbourne at 2.10pm on Saturday afternoon at StarTrack Oval in Canberra. The game will be broadcast live on 7mate or Fox Sports 3 in NSW and the ACT. Click here to get your tickets from Ticketek now.
