Everyone knows GIANTS players are talented footballers but how much do you really know about their lives off the field?

Here are five things you didn’t know about small forward Devon Smith.

1) Home town hero – There’s only three AFL listed players who come from Lara in Victoria (Josh Walker from Geelong, Allen Christensen from Brisbane and myself). We all went to primary school together.

2) Something fishy – My brother’s middle name is Fish. Seriously. My family has always loved fishing and I try to get on the Parramatta River as much as possible to throw a line in with Jeremy Cameron.

3) Masterchef – My speciality dish in the kitchen is enchiladas. They’re nothing special, until you taste them.

4) Mini-GIANT – I’m the smallest player on the GIANTS list, standing at 175cm or 5’ 8’’ - Good things come in small packages.

5) Lucky number  – I currently wear the number 10 at the GIANTS which was originally worn by former ruckman Dean Brogan. He handed me the number after our first season in 2012.

This regular series of player stories aims to bring GIANTS fans closer to their heroes by giving a snap-shot into their private lives.
