Young star Devon Smith has signed a two year contract extension with the GIANTS that will keep him at the club until the end of 2017.

Smith joins a number of players including star forward Jeremy Cameron, Co-Captain Phil Davis, Jonathon Patton, Toby Greene, Adam Tomlinson, Nick Haynes, Josh Kelly and Adam Kennedy who've already re-committed to the GIANTS.

The 21 year-old has played 59 games and kicked 52 goals since making his AFL debut in 2012 and was runner-up in the Kevin Sheedy Medal in 2014.

Smith kicked 26 goals in 2014 including five against St Kilda. He kicked the winning goal in the dying seconds of the round 23 match against the Western Bulldogs.

Smith said he was excited to re-sign with the GIANTS. “This is the place I want to be,” he said.

“When you sit down and think about what you want at the end of your career, I want to play in a premiership, that’s what everyone plays for.

“It took a while for me to settle in Sydney but now I love it. I bought a boat and ‘Jez’ (Jeremy Cameron) and I are out fishing all the time. My girlfriend has moved up, my family come up frequently and I’m really enjoying the Sydney lifestyle.”

Chief Executive David Matthews said Smith's re-signing was another strong endorsement of the club.

"We have excellent training facilities, a talented playing list and coaching group and a strong and united club that is focused on delivering success for its fans," he said.

"Sydney also offers a great lifestyle for our young players and we're delighted they are choosing our club and all it has to offer."

Coach Leon Cameron said Smith was an integral part of the club's future success.

"Devon is an exciting  young talent and a future leader of our club. It further demonstrates that our young players are buying into the club and see it has an exciting future," he said.
